Café Mountain is an English brand dedicated to creating ‘Well Balanced Leisure Goods’. We design and manufacture high quality and long lasting garments, accessories and lifestyle products that bring you closer to nature.
Taking cues from classic styles and utilising time tested, traditional construction techniques and manufacturing practices, our goal is to create garments made with integrity and a sense of timelessness.
Origins
Café Mountain was founded in 2021 in the North East of England.
Initially inspired by the diversity our local landscape, we sought to create a cohesiveness within our wardrobe that would translate between both nature and the city with ease. Our commitment to high quality local manufacturing was instilled from the very beginning, initially producing a small collection in a local micro-factory and partnering with independent makers. The brand quickly gained a devoted following for its considered design and brand philosophy; a following that has allowed us to delve deeper into what we do and push each collection to new heights, through material, design and manufacturing exploration and research.
Material Matters
Material is arguably the heart of every garment, which is why we put so much time and resource into scouring the globe for the most characterful and highest quality fabrics and trims we can get our hands on. Majority of our fabric is sourced from UK, Italy, Japan and beyond, with trims often specially made for us by our tight knit community of local makers.
Inspired by long lasting vintage garments of the past, we mostly create products from natural fibres like cotton, wool and linen, avoiding synthetics where possible.
Craftsmanship and Manufacturing
A passionate preserver of local manufacturing and traditional craft, we produce the majority of our collections here in the UK.
Just a 3 hour drive from the Cafe Mountain HQ, our main UK partner factory has been producing some of the most robust and functional garments in the UK for over 150 years. Our knitwear is expertly produced in Nottinghamshire, England using a blend of both traditional and modern methods. We also pride ourself on working with specialist overseas partners for select product where specific skills, heritage and technology make each partner an expert in their field, allowing us to create the highest quality of items.
